safety
At AK Constructors, Inc. our commitment to safety is based on our desire to create a working environment that places the highest value on the welfare of the individual employee. We feel this is achieved through taking ownership of their own actions, implementing company safety standards and embracing excellence in all aspects of their performance. We achieve: to create added value for our customers through safe working practices on their projects and in their facilities. We pledge to place the safety and well being of our employees, the employees of our sub-contractors and the employees of our customers first and foremost. At AK Constructors, it is our goal to eliminate or control both known and potential safety and health hazards faced on the job. In order to accomplish this goal, our company adheres to the following guidelines:
  • Safety and health are a shared responsibility. It is imperative that everyone, from the management team to supervisors to each and every field employee, take ownership of his or her own safety and that of their co-workers.
  • Being safe on the job is not the other guy’s responsibility, it’s everyone’s. Each employee has a responsibility to locate and identify hazards and either correct them or report them to the proper personnel in a timely manner.
  • Where hazards cannot be completely eliminated, they must be reduced through proper use of personal protective equipment and other safety equipment as deemed necessary.
  • Through continuing safety education programs, each employee must be trained to work safely. Should an individual feel inadequately trained to perform a certain task, they must immediately discuss the problem with their supervisor.
  • Through weekly jobsite tailgate training and hazard communication, jobsite hazards are reviewed and discussed to increase awareness and put the focus on safety.
  • As a condition of employment, each employee must consistently work in a safe manner. Employees must use the appropriate personal protective equipment to reduce the risk of injury to themselves and others.
The health and safety of our employees is of great concern. Each employee is expected to conform to OSHA and Cal / OSHA regulations.
